What is Semaglutide?Semaglutide is a GLP-1 derivative that is naturally found in the body and has been found to have various health benefits. It can help lower blood sugar levels, increase insulin secretion, improve heart, liver, and lung function, and slow down or prevent the effects of Alzheimer's disease. Additionally, Semaglutide has been found to effectively reduce appetite by delaying gastric emptying and intestinal motility. Studies have shown that this GLP-1 analog stimulates insulin secretion and suppresses glucagon secretion in a glucose-dependent manner.

Does GLP-1 treatment reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications? The American heart Association stated self-administered semaglutide/tirzepatide decreased the risk of heart attack, stroke, and death of cardiovascular complications by 20% in those suffering from obesity and heart disease but did not have diabetes.
-
What is the difference between semaglutide and tirzepatide?Semaglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1) which acts by mimicking the action of the GLP-1 hormone, which helps regulate blood sugar levels. On the other hand, Tirzepatide is a GLP-1 and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor agonist (GIP) dual agonist. It activates both GLP-1 and GIP receptors, providing combined effects on glucose control and satiety. Tirzepatide has shown greater weight loss effects compared to semaglutide in clinical trials.
